Nowhere Boy

I viewed the movie Nowhere Boy yesterday and found it quite moving. Sure, there have been a lot of documentaries, tv specials etc on the Beatles but this was more specifically about John Lennon's childhood life, the way he was brought up mainly by his aunt Mimi and his fascination for rock n roll music, sparked by his mother. I do enjoy a typical Hollywood chick flick every now and then with predictable humour, love and romance but of course usually they lack the depth of biographies, true stories and documentaries....
A particularly lovely way to spend a lazy Monday afternoon :) Hope you enjoy the pics!

Recent Purchases

A pretty bluebird.. I have a real thing for bluebirds and actually have a tattoo of one on my hip. I saw these fantastic vintage ceramic bluebirds in a shop on the Gold Coast some time ago but didn't buy them and have been kicking myself ever since. I'm hoping I can find another couple somewhere to go with it as usually they come in sets of 2 or 3. This one was from Ebay.

Woven black and gold bracelet

This dress was $2.50. I love the scalloping and I've worn it already with the collar tucked in. Quite like that look too.

I think this actually might have been a nightie! Oh well. One person's nightie is another persons.... cocktail frock!

This dress is so puzzling to me! Pleating, elastic, sheer fabric with the weird little panel at the bottom.. yet I couldn't bring myself to leave it at Vinnies. I'm planning to make it one shouldered and shorten it to thigh length.

Cheapie little sportsgirl bag..

I go a bit nuts in the summer months purchasing vintage dresses.. well, more nuts than usual. My reasoning behind this is that there are so many summer soirees` to attend! Between xmas parties, more xmas parties, catch ups with friends, new years, birthdays (what is with these people that are born in December?!) and BBQs there needs to be lots of options!
